The Trumbull 5-7-year-old lacrosse team took part in the 3rd annual Michael Burke Memorial Bantam Jamboree and wore MB #13 on their helmets to honor Burke, a former St. Joseph lacrosse player who passed away suddenly on May 5, 2010 after complications from a routine surgery at age 34. The Jamboree is an annual event, at which local teams play against each other with St. Joseph coaches and lacrosse players helping out as referees. All proceeds from the event support the Michael Burke Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is awarded each year to a graduating high school senior lacrosse player who is continuing a lacrosse career in college. Burke was a member of St. Joseph’s first varsity lacrosse team and went on to play lacrosse at Western New England College.
