Trumbull earns dozen titles at South Side Scuffle
The 3rd annual South Side Scuffle took place Dec. 30 at Trumbull High School.
The Trumbull-based wrestling club had 51 wrestlers take on some of New England’s best competition.
Teams from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Florida, New York and Connecticut all battled for a spot on the podium.
South Side had 12 champions.
In the girls division, Kayla Batres took first place and Elizabella Brown was third.
Gregory Weiner was first in the Mighty Mite Division.
At Bantam 8U, Ryder Zychek and Dawson McGrath placed first.
Alex Kendall and Harry Lamb took second.
Elizabella Brown, Jack Agle and Kennedy Nemec placed third.
Taking fourths were Julian Preston, Chase Gydus and A.J. Gayle.
In the Intermediate 10U Division, Hubert Szymko and Mason Oliver placed first.
Eli Shea was second.
Selena Batres, Logan Velez and Dominick Vaz took thirds.
Thaddeus Pires, Jackson Velez, Zach Blomberg placed fourth.
In the 12U Novice Division, Dominick Spadaro was first.
Cosmo Zarelli and Ike Blomberg placed fourth.
