Trumbull Youth Lacrosse boys team cops crown

The Trumbull Youth Lacrosse 8th grade boys travel team wrapped up its best season ever with a 9-8 overtime win over Ridgefield in the CONNY (Connecticut New York Lacrosse Association) Tournament on Sunday, June 12.

With the win, Trumbull finished ranked third overall in CONNY, the highest ranking ever for a TYL team. The team compiled a 22-3 record, with two of its three losses coming against the top-ranked 8th grade team from Greenwich.

In addition to first-time victories over New Canaan, Ridgefield, Wilton and Fairfield, the Trumbull 8th graders broke a few other records: 22 wins, first ever No. 1 ranking in CONNY, 258 goals, 18-game winning streak and fewest losses in a season.

The coaching staff of Scott Lilly, Glenn Schutz and John Conroy will be seeing 13 of the 18 boys attend Trumbull High to help build on the recent success the high school program has enjoyed.
