Trumbull-Westfield for New England title
Trumbull Babe Ruth will play host Westfield (Mass.) for the New England 14-year-old title today at 4 p.m. The winner advances to the Babe Ruth World Series in Ocala (Fla.).
Manager Mike Buswell’s team defeated Cranston (R.I.) by a score of 2-1 in semifinal action on Wednesday.
Nolan Nemchek allowed only three hits and a fourth inning run while striing out seven batters in a complete-game performance versus Cranston.
Trumbull scored its runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Robert Olah had three hits including an RBI, Tony Socci doubled and Dustin Siqueira singled and scored a run.
Tyler Zikias hit a sacrifice fly to score Andrew Lojko, which proved to be the winning run.
