The Trumbull United Scorpions U11 boys soccer team defeated West Hartford, 4-3, on penalty kicks in a well-played first division game in the Sweet Sixteen of the CT Cup this past weekend.
The Scorpions received PK goals from Owen Bull, Christian Moura, Dylan Moreira and Hayden Brill. They will play Farmington in the quarterfinals at Indian Ledge field in Saturday, Oct. 22.
Moreira opened the scoring in the 16th minute on a penalty kick.
Moreira’s shot off the right post bounced out to Moura, who put it home in the 24th minute.
West Hartford then scored four unanswered goals.
In the closing minutes of regulation, Logan Blazer scored on a rebound and then found the back of the net off a Bull free kick in the final seconds.
The overtime saw West Hartford tally first, but Trumbull responded once again as Moura solidified his a hat trick off another rebound on a free kick by Bull.
