Brandon Csizmadia hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Trumbull American 11-year-old All-Star team to an 8-7 victory over  Fairfield American in the District 2 Little League championship on Saturday, July 12, at Unity Park in Trumbull to win the District 2 LL Championship.

Raymond Leonzi worked an 0-2 count into a walk before Csizmadia’s took an 1-0 pitch over the fence to give unbeaten Trumbull the walk-off-win.

Fairfield jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Trumbull responded with a solo home run blast in the bottom of the first by Brandon Buda to cut the lead in half.

Fairfield put up another three runs, but in the bottom of the fourth inning and down 5-2, Trumbull’s lineup went to work.

Back-to-back singles by Jackson Vicente and Robert Goldstein ignited a four-run rally that put Trumbull on top, 6-5.

Luke LaSala loaded the bases with a bunt and Andrew Harvey followed with a single to score a run. A single by Csizmadia and an overthrow put another three runs on the board.

After a solo home run and a single drove in another run, Fairfield had a 7-6 lead entering the bottom of sixth.

Pitching for Trumbull were Csizmadia, Goldstein and Buda.

On the way to the title game, Trumbull defeated Fairfield National, North End twice, Westport, Trumbull National and Fairfield American twice.

Trumbull advances to the divisional series with a 7-0 record and will play its next game on Thursday, July 17, at 5:30 PM on Unity Field No. 1.
