Trumbull defeated Waterford, 8-2, to win the Babe Ruth 14 state title in New Milford on Saturday.

Manager Mike Buswell’s team went 5-0 in states and will next compete at the Regional Tournament in Westfield (Mass.).

Trumbull answered two runs by Waterford in the top of the first with four of its own in the bottom of the frame. Four runs in the sixth inning secured the victory.

Tyler Zikias had two hits and scored two runs, Nolan Nemchek singled and scored twice, Josh Colondona and Andrew Lojko both singled and scored a run, and Mike Garofalo had a single and two RBIS.

Lojko went the distance and allowed four hits.
