The Trumbull Babe Ruth travel baseball team was on the road for three Babe Ruth I-84 Summer League games last week.

Trumbull (4-2) first traveled to play Stamford, and the home team scored a 14-11 decision.

Trumbull took a 9-0 lead in the first inning, but couldn’t hold off Stamford, which scored six in the bottom of the frame.

The second game was in Westport, and with Tom Sica commanding the game from the hill Trumbull posted a 6-1 victory.

Sica tossed a one-hitter and struck out six.

A four-run fourth-inning rally was sparked by Will Guttman, who was followed by doubles from  Will DeFusco and David Suporn.

Luke Smith, Michael Hesse and Ralph Malagise had key hits to close the door on any Westport comeback.

The next stop was Danbury for a game under the lights. Trumbull came out with a quick run in the first, but Danbury answered in kind. A three-run rally gave Trumbull the lead in the fourth. Danbury went back in front, before a seventh-inning threat by Trumbull came up one run short, as Danbury won 7-6.
