
T.R.A.C.K. (Trumbull Racing and Cycling Kids) in Indian Ledge Park is preparing to kick off the 2015 season in April.
On Tuesday evenings, cyclist from kids to adults race the 1100-foot packed dirt course from the starting gate over the “Table top”, around 3 asphalt berms into the “Rhythm Section” to the finish line.
Riders compete in “motos” to reach the main event. Cyclist are grouped by age and experience. Kids can start pedal racing at 6 years old.
Riders 5 and under can utilize a smaller portion of the course on Strider Bikes.
Adults are also welcome to race in their respective groups.
With this new season comes a new track operator at the helm, as Trumbull resident Rich Parezan has taken over operations at T.R.A.C.K. He is assisted by his wife Liz, the treasurer and clerk, rounding out the all volunteer board are Mark Reale, assistant track operator and Debra Reale, secretary.
The Board wants to see more riders utilize the track. They are hosting two Open House Nights — Monday, April 20, and April 27. Anyone interested is encourage to come to the track and try the course.
They can register for a complimentary one-day membership to USA BMX, the national governing body.
Riders can use any 20” bike, however, kickstands, chain guards. reflectors must be removed. Long sleeves and long pants are necessary. Also required is a helmet with face protection.
TRACK has a few loaner helmets available for the open house.
