Trumbull American 11-year-olds defeated Fairfield American, 9-8, in the District 2 Little League winner’s bracket finals at Unity Park on Wednesday.

Trailing 4-0 early, Raymond Leonzi hit a solo home run to get Trumbull on the board. Leonzi’s second home run, a grand slamer on a 1-2 count, gave Trumbull an 7-4 lead.

Leonzi also threw the final 2 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win on the mound.

Trumbull American’s will play for the District title on Saturday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at Unity Park.

Fairfield American will meet Fairfield National in the elimination bracket final. The winner of that game advances to the district title game, where it will have to beat Trumbull American twice.
