St. Joseph High’s Adam Usinger scored at the 2:59 mark of the eight-minute overtime period to lift coach J.R. Bria’s Cadets to a 4-3 boys ice hockey victory over host West Haven at Bennett Rink on Monday night.

Nick DiSabella and Andrew Van Etten had the assists, as St. Joseph won its season opener.

The Blue Devils (0-2) scored a pair of goals in the first period.

St. Joseph got one back in the second period when Will Gilbert scored unassisted at 12:47.

The Cadets tied the game in the third. Usinger, from Connor Hurley, beat Westie goalie Logan Cole (22 saves) at 6:45 and DiSabella (from Usinger) scored 19 seconds later for a 3-2 lead.

West Haven’s Peter Richetelli scored with 4:57 left in regulation to tie the game.

St. Joseph’s Ryan Wilson had 23 saves.
