Trumbull United Fireballs U10 girls soccer team defeated Shelton, 3-0, on June 11.

Led by coach Tyler Jorge, the Fireballs are undefeated in their league.

Jorge, a former Trumbull United player himself, is passionate about seeing the girls succeed. This win was extra special for him, because it highlighted how far the Fireballs have grown. Last season, the Fireballs lost to Shelton twice.

After their win on Sunday, Jorge reminded the girls that Shelton beat them 5-1 last season.

Team manager Adriana Mozzo credits the team’s success to the coaching.

“He’s found what position each of them are best at and where they can contribute most to the team,” she said of Jorge.

The Fireballs have only let up four goals the entire season, thanks to the defensive efforts of Riley Connolly, Ava Rochester, Aubrie Wuchiski, Emma Bomann and goalkeeper Catalina Mozzo.

Playmakers in midfield — Anna Coppola, Chloe Henderson, Olivia Fuimara and Cristina Nogueira — create the goals from  Remy DeNomme, Grace Crespo and Anna Hawthorne.

The Fireballs look to maintain their undefeated record as they go into the last two weeks of play.
