The St. Joseph boys cross country team placed 13th in Saturday's Class M state championship meet at Wickham Park in East Hartford.

The Cadets were led by seniors Will Whitlock and Jack Moulder. Whitlock placed 55th overall in 18 minutes, 51 seconds. Moulder placed 57th in 18:59.

Juniors Ryan Haack (76th, 19:15), Brian Dineen (81st, 19:30) and Anthony Crocco (93rd, 19:49) each ran strong races.

Sophomore Garrett Kalker placed 128th in 21:10 and senior Nicholas Russo placed 135th in 22:10.

"I was pleased that our entire team ran well individually," said St. Joseph coach David Scrivines.  "It doesn't happen too often when teams perform really well (places) one through seven."

The team finish was solid considering the amount of ground the Cadets made up in the final weeks of the season. St. Joseph finished 14th in the FCIAC championships, but had strong performances all-around during the 22-team state meet.
