St. Joseph defeated Trinity Catholic, 5-3, in an FCIAC boys ice hockey game in Shelton on Thursday, Jan. 14.

The Cadets improved to 4-3-0. The Crusaders fell to 1-6-0.

Trinity took a 2-1 lead after one period on a pair of goals from Kyle Bernard.

Will Gilbert scored unassisted for St. Joseph.

Bernard had the lone goal in the second period to make it 3-1.

St. Joseph scored four times in the final frame.

Kevin Faustich found the net at 5:26 and Andrew Van Etten tied the game at 6:20.

Adam Usinger scored at 9:44 for a 4-3 lead before Gilbert completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.

The Cadets’ Tom Flynn, Gilbert, Nick DiSabella and Kyle Parchinski had assists

For Trinity, Logan Healey (two) and Connor Scanlon had the assists.

Will Brady (five saves) and Ryan Wilson (six saves) were in goal for St. Joseph.

Trinity’s Zach Lockwood had 24 stops.
