Baseball: Trumbull U12s win War at Shore title

The Trumbull Travel 12U baseball team, coached by Jeff John, Bob Buswell and Garrie Krueger, captured the War by the Shore Tournament title, held in East Lyme.

On Saturday, Trumbull tied its first two pool games (7-7 vs. Shoreline Hammerheads and 5-5 vs. Hamden Yard Dogs) before entering the elimination round as the fifth seed.

In the quarterfinals, Trumbull defeated the fourth seed Shoreline Hammerheads-Marc, 8-3, before eliminating the top-seed, Technique Tigers, 9-5, in the semifinals.

Trumbull came-from-behind in the semifinal win, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to the tie the game, and added four more in the seventh to earn a spot in the title game.

In the championship game, Trumbull held off the Shoreline Hammerheads-Wendall squad, 12-11, to win the title.
