In a very well-played 14-15 Year Old Division Babe Ruth League game at Unity Park, The Clubhouse held on to defeat Old Towne 2-1 on May 26.

The contest featured some excellent defensive play by both teams, and was highlighted by a 8-8-1-2 double play that squashed Old Towne’s bid to tie the score in the sixth inning.

With The Clubhouse leading 2-1, Old Towne tried to tag and score on a fly ball to centerfielder Brandon White.

White’s throw to the plate was cut off by pitcher Kyle Dewalt, who then flipped to catcher Rob Schlatter; nipping the Old Towne runner at the plate for the double play.

The Clubhouse scored twice in the bottom of the third inning, as Jake Rubinstein led off with a walk and stole second before scoring on a White single.

White would later score on a clutch two-out single by Joe Nemchek.

Jarod Stickle went four innings for The Clubhouse, giving up only one hit and striking out seven.

Matt Carloto led Old Towne with a hit and a walk.  He scored Old Towne’s only run.

The Clubhouse held on to defeat UBS 15-4 at Unity Park Field.

The Clubhouse got on the board early, scoring two runs in the top of the first with leadoff man White drawing a base on balls and eventually scoring on a Jake Bova single.

Bova came around to score after a Schlatter walk and an RBI single by Will Guttman.

In the third inning, Dylan McCaffery led off with a single and was able to score on Schlatter’s attempt to stretch a long single into a double, before a nice play at second base by UBS infielder Glenn Helthaler recorded the out.

The top of the fifth inning started with a White double to left center, followed by a McCaffery walk, a Bova single and a booming double to left field by Schlatter.

Guttman picked up his second and third RBIs of the game with a hard single and eventually came around to score with Parker Dellaquila on a Rubinstein single to cap off the six-run fifth inning.

Rubinstein pitched six innings of emergency relief, replacing Bova, the injured starter. Rubinstein was exceptional, holding a very strong UBS squad hitless into the fifth inning.

Patrick Lapinski broke the ice for UBS with a single in the fifth, followed by a hustling Jacob Uber who eventually scored twice for UBS.

In a game called because of darkness in the sixth inning, The Clubhouse held on to beat Taco Loco 8-7 at Madison School Field.

McCaffery pitched three innings, giving up four hits and three earned runs.

Stickle pitched an inning and stuck out two.

White drove in three runs and Dellaquila had two RBIs and scored two runs. Rubinstein and Adam Giammatei each scored twice.

Taco Loco pitcher Troy Lamson pitched two innings, giving up one hit with three strikeouts.
