Trumbull residents put together a team Miles for Mia to compete at the Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday at Jennings Beach.

Elite runners came from all over the world to compete for top prize money.

Thousands of runners were looking for personal records, many looked forward to the run and others just wanted to finish.

Seven Trumbull residents took it a step further and decided to team together and use the event as a way to raise money for five-year-old Mia, a cancer survivor and her family.

The team received donations from family and friends for their 13.1 mile run with all funds going to Mia and her family.

“It was so inspiring to see the way Trumbull came out to show their support at the Tu Tu Trott Relay held earlier in the month, and again today,” Dawn Pfhol said. “It’s what I love about Trumbull, people care about each other and their neighbors.”
