The Trumbull Pisces swimmers continued their outstanding season this past weekend at the 2016 Connecticut Long Course Regional Championships.

During the two day event that takes place at multiple pools throughout Connecticut, the Pisces claimed first overall in five individual regional events: Girls 10U 200 free (Audrey Kehley), Girls 11-12 50 free (Jacqueline Dale), Girls 11-12 400 free (Elizabeth Stoelzel), Girls 11-12 200 backstroke (Elizabeth Stoelzel) and Boys 11-12 200 free and 100 butterfly (Nicholas Paolella).

The team also had several second and third place individual finishes. The swimmers added 11 Age Group Championship qualifying times to bring their season total to 56 qualifications.

Head coach Bill Strickland said,  "This past weekend showed why it's so much fun to be a member of the Trumbull Pisces family. Our swimmers swam hard, not just themselves and their coaches, but also their teammates. Anyone who watched the relays definitely saw that. Having all our swimmers at Regionals swim personal bests was a testament to their hard work and was rewarding to see.”

Trumbull showed the depth of its program by taking first place in four of the eight relay events (12U); Girls 10U 200 free relay and 200 medley relay (Audrey Kehley, Loralai Dale, Kristen Racicot, Caitlyn Dale), Girls 11-12 200 free relay (Jacqueline Dale, Sofia Paolella, Claire Kehley, Elizabeth Stoelzel) and the Boys 11-12 200 free relay (Sean Yu, Rohit Gunda, Cameron Kosak, Nicholas Paolella).

The Pisces now sends 12 swimmers to the 2016 Long Course State Age Group Championships at Wesleyan University in two weeks.

“With things clicking for us right now, we are heading into the final championship meet in great spirits,” Strickland said. “Our main hurdle is keeping the rhythm going.”
