Thompson, Romanchick lead Jingle Bell 5K
The rain held off for the 25th annual NIA Jingle Bell 5K Run this past Saturday, Dec. 6.
It was a successful day with 595 runners turning out for the race.
Drew Thompson of Trumbull finished first overall in a time of 17:27.
Trumbull’s Katelynn Romanchick was the first overall female placer with a time of 20:24.
The race started in front of the Nichols Library and included some challenging hills through out the rolling course, with one of the best downhill finishes in the state.
A Jingle Bell Junior Run Fire to the Finish 1/3 miler gave children 11 and under the opportunity to compete.
NIA Nichols Improvement Association is a non-profit organization of volunteers chartered with helping to preserve the distinctive heritage of the Nichols community.
