School spirit tastes great; support Best Buddies

Make dinner a selfless act by joining in on a Best Buddies fundraiser to support Hillcrest Middle School.

Come to the Chipotle Mexican Grill at 701 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton on Tuesday, Nov. 14, between 4 and 8 p.m. and tell the cashier you’re supporting the Best Buddies cause to make sure that 50 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Hillcrest Middle School.

Best Buddies, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Its programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.
