The Trumbull Men’s Basketball League began March 31, and the players are primed for another great season.

League participants would like to thank the Trumbull Recreation Department for its continued efforts in making the league a success.

Games are held Monday and Wednesday nights at Hillcrest Middle School from 8 to 9 p.m.

Week I

Minutemen 48, Dusters 27

The season began with a victory for The Minutemen in this Monday night matchup. David Klein played well for The Minutemen, scoring a game high 20 points and grabbing eight-plus rebounds. Donald Epifano scored eight points in defeat for the Busters.

FWYB 58, Ballaholics 56

In a closely contested battle, FWYB came out on top of the Ballaholics. Trailing by five at halftime, FWYB gained the lead thanks to accurate shooting and timely free throws by Greg Desantis, who scored 13 points. Eric Wolak played strong in defeat, scoring 19 points, including 3 three-point field goals in 45 seconds.

23’s 67, Team Pyrex 59

This Wednesday night matchup featured two teams prolific in scoring. For team Pyrex, Dominique Langston scored a league-high 29 points, displaying accurate three-point shooting and impressive post moves. For the 23’s, Tom Sparks dazzled with two breakaway dunks on his way to 22 points. In the end, the passing displayed by the 23’s were too much for Team Pyrex to handle.

Los Blenders 66,

Law Offices of Gulash

and Riccio 60

Tensions were incredibly high as week one of the season concluded. Los Blenders came out on top in improbable fashion, after trailing by 10 points at halftime. Thanks to timely three-point shooting by Eric Carroll, and five late free throws by Carlos Santos, Los Blenders were able to upend the Law Offices of Gulash and Riccio squad. In defeat,  Thomas Nolan and John Sheehan each scored 13 points for the G and R team.

Week II

Ballaholics 51, Dusters 44

The second week of the young season started with a Ballaholic win over the Dusters. Erik Schneider scored 20 points, along with some timely free throws to seal the deal. Steven Epifano played strong in defeat, scoring a team high 20 points including 4 three-point baskets.

Law Offices of Gulash

and Riccio 59,

23’s 57

Every tick on the clock was necessary for Gulash and Riccio to come out on top in this Monday night battle agains the 23’s. With a last second tip-in by Junior Belliard, the Gulash and Riccio team was able to upset the 23’s. Ryan Nolan had 16 points for G and R, while Tom Sparks had a game high 27 for the 23’s. The closest game in league history.

Kenny Z’s Salon 31,

FWYB 27

A shorthanded FWYB struggled mightily against Kenny Z’s Salon in this Wednesday night matchup. Kenny Z’s Salon, a new team in the league, came out on top thanks to some sharp shooting displayed by Matt Bowden who scored a game high 17 points. Matt Riccio was lead scorer for FWYB with 14 points in defeat.

Team Pyrex 75,

Los Blenders 72

In the league’s highest scoring game ever, Team Pyrex came out on top thanks to the scoring of Dominique Langston, who had 27 in the contest. Nick Sampieri also played well scoring 11 points in the victory. For Los Blenders, Rob Bronski showed great hustle scoring 20 points and Eric Carroll again displayed his scoring ability with 22 points and 5 three-point baskets.
