
The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, girls gymnastics team finished out its season at the YMCA National Gymnastics Championship competition in Long Beach, Calif.
The Lakewood-Trumbull Y sent six gymnasts to compete in the three-day event with approximately 2,000 other gymnasts and more than 100 YMCAs from all over the country.
Zosia Kocab of Monroe came home as the National Champion taking first place for the Level 5 Senior Division with an all-around score of 36.1.
She finished out the competition placing first on vault (9.35) and uneven bars (8.9), and took third on floor and fourth on beam.
Lindsay Capobianco of Milford, a Level 6 gymnast, placed sixth in the all-around with a score of 34.925. She placed second on beam (9.5), fourth on uneven bars (8.675) and seventh on vault (8.7).
Callan Vaughn, a Level 6 gymnast of Trumbull, placed fifth on vault (9.0) and fourth on beam (9.225).
Talia Lalli, a Level 5 gymnast, and Alyssa Lalli, a Level 3 gymnast of Trumbull, placed fifth on the uneven bars (8.45) and sixth on vault (9.225), respectively.
