Bowling: Two Tashua league's decided by playoff
Tashua Knolls Senior Men’s Club Bowling at the Nutmeg Lanes on May 13 for the Friday League had a thrilling end, with Team 19 (Mark Ryan, Jerry Orsini, Ken Kanyuck and Ray Saksa) tying Team 13 (Gary Robenseifer, Paul Schuerlein, Mike Bartolotta and Greg Babash) for first place.
Team 16 (Carl Noll, Ralph Keese, Dick Volpe and John Verdeschi) had a chance to make it a three-way tie, but lost its third game.
In a first-ever one-game playoff, Team 19 won by 36 pins to earn the league title.
Individual performance on this last day went to Joe Alarcon, with the high scratch single of 267, the single game with handicap of 299, the three game scratch series of 660 and the series with handicap of 756.
The league’s season high average individual was Noel Gabrielle with a 215 average.
The season individual’s single game high went to John Verdeschi, Ray Saksa and Matty Martiro all at 279.
The season’s three game series went to Angelo Grande at 746.
At the Nutmeg Lanes on May 10, the Tuesday League concluded its season with a playoff that had first-half champions Team 9 (Jim Frisino, Charlie Clark, Paul Schuerlein and Tony Viglione) defeat Team 6 (Dave Martini, Mark Ryan, Bob Oleyar and Ron Vitale).
In individual performance for the day, Ernie Santo had the high scratch single of 225, Jim Frisino had the single game with handicap of 263, Angelo Cardone had the three game scratch series of 636 and the series with handicap of 738.
The league individual season high average was Ernie Santo at 190.90 edging out John Verdeschi at 190.42.
Dave Martini with 127 points was the season’s high individual match point leader.
Season high’s for the individual single game went to Guy Favreau at 279 and Angelo Grande for the individual three game series of 721.
