Buddy’s needed for TOPSoccer
The TOPSoccer outreach program is for children ages 3-19 years with physical and or mental special needs. The program is 6 weeks on Saturday afternoons, held at Kaechele Park (adjacent to Madison Middle School in Trumbull). The fall season will begin on Oct. 3. Hours are 2:15-4:15 p.m.
If you are in 7th or higher grade, like to have fun, and want to help out in your community, you can volunteer as a Buddy. You do not need to know how to play soccer. Training provided.

Ernie Santos leads bowlers
At the Nutmeg Lanes, the Tuesday Tashua Knolls Senior Men’s Club Bowling League on Sept. 15, had a complete realignment of the teams as Team 1 (Dick Burke, Charlie Ferreira, Ken Kanyuck and Ernie Santo) moved into first place by one half point.
The high scratch single was Ernie Santo with 227 and the three game series of 628. The single game with handicap was Frank Wendt at 270 and Santo had the series with handicap at 745.
Girls hoop grades 3-8
Trumbull High School girls varsity head coach Steve Tobisch is partnering up with Insports to run the Annual Girls Basketball Fall Skills and Drills Clinic, which will include drills focusing on fundamentals and skill development, learning ball handling, passing, rebounding, defense and shooting, and structured mini game play that will focus on specific skills that are being taught.
The clinic for girls in grades 3-8 will run for eight weeks through Nov. 9 on Mondays from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Players will be broken up into groups based on age and ability. The fee of $179/ player includes yearly $35 membership. Free basketball clinics
The Trumbull Recreation Department's Travel Basketball League will hold free clinics for girls in grades 5 through 8 on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Madison Middle School.
Travel basketball tryouts
Tryouts for the Trumbull Recreation Department’s Travel Basketball League for girls and boys grades 5 through 8 will be held at Madison Middle School.
Girls grades 5 and 6 will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Saturday Oct. 31 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Girls grades 7 and 8 will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Saturday Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Boys grade 5 and 6 will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Boys grades 7 and 8 will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Saturday Oct. 31 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Register at the Trumbull Recreation Department. The fee is $250.

Trumbull Little League is a volunteer organization that depends on the generous donation of time, talent, and energy of volunteers to ensure we continue to put forward a great experience for the kids and families involved. We are a healthier organization when we have greater involvement from the community we serve and as such are looking for new board members. HS-age fall soccer team
Trumbull United is offering a High School age Rec Plus program is offered to players not playing on their high school teams this fall season.
Games are league games against towns who run similar programs. Current opponents are Darien, Newtown, Rowayton, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton.
Most of the above mentioned Rec-Plus teams take the option to convert to Travel team status in the spring.
The team is open to High School players up to U19 , who are currently enrolled in 9th to 12th grade and are a resident of the Town of Trumbull.
The team will practice twice a week (Monday and Wednesday 8-9:30 p.m.) at Indian Ledge Turf, playing games typically on Saturdays.
Coaching staff will consist of local High School coaches (Floyd Neil, Jaime Jorge, Steve Waizenegger).
Cost for the fall season is $325, plus the cost of uniforms (approximately $60).

THS home dates
The Trumbull High football team will open its home season with Tashua Night on Friday, Sept. 25, when Westhill High from Stamford visits McDougall Stadium at 7 p.m.
Other home dates include: Booth Hill Night on Oct. 16 vs Greenwich High and Frenchtown Night on Nov. 11 when Norwalk High comes to town. Brien McMahon of Norwalk visits on Oct. 30.

Unwrapped toys needed at Bowl
Saturday, Sept. 26, will be the Walter Camp Day at the Bowl when the Yale University Bulldogs host Ivy-league rival Cornell Big Red at 1 p.m.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation in conjunction with the Yale-NH Hospital Auxiliary Toy Closets Program is asking fans to bring a new unwrapped toy* to support the cause and in return, receive a free general admission ticket to the game.
Toys can be dropped off at the Hospitality Village on Central Avenue, which is located near Gates D & E. This is the 16th year the Walter Camp Foundation has coordinated this toy drive and the seventh with event sponsor, the law firm of Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C.
