Senior pitcher Ryan Yerina from Trumbull of the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team took home the NCBWA Pitcher of the Week for his performances over Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Assumption last week.

Yerina tossed 7.2 perfect innings in a 9-0 win over Assumption on Sunday, striking out six in a one-hitter.

He also gave the Owls a six inning, two-hit outing in a 8-2 win over Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Tuesday.

Yerina only allowed one run over 15.0 innings, while striking out 12 in the two starts.

Yerina was also named the Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.

He is a perfect 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA with 27 strikeouts and four walks in 35 innings.

Mike Yerina a freshman, has pitched in three games with a 3.18 ERA.

The Owls are home this weekend to Bentley and Stonehill. Bentley visits the Ballpark at SCSU on Friday at 3:30 and Sunday at 1 p.m. Stonehill is in for a doubleheader at 12 noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
