Phil Terio of Trumbull was named the Male Athlete of the Year, when Salve Regina University held its annual Seahawk Sports Award ceremony on May 5 at Bazarsky Lecture Hall in the O’Hare Academic Center.

Athletes from all 19 varsity teams gathered for a night to celebrate their accomplishments, both as teams and individuals.

The night began with a short video that celebrated the all conference, academic, regional and national recognition of the student athletes.

The evening culminated with the presentation of the Female and Male Athlete of the Year.

Terio is a two-position standout for the Salve Regina football team.

Following his record-breaking campaign, Terio was honored by the Beyond Sports Network on its All-America team as a second team cornerback, as well as being named a return specialist and cornerback All-American by d3ftootball.com.

Terio, a Trumbull High standout, also earned All-Division honors for the New England Football Conference and All-Region and All-New England honors.
