The students of the Bridgeport Regional Aquaculture Science and Technology Education Center will be showcasing their hand-built cocktail-class racing boats in the second annual Aqua Cup exhibition race on Sunday, June 15, from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., at Captain’s Cove, 1 Bostwick Ave., in Bridgeport. In case of rain forecasted for Sunday, the rain date for the event will be held the day before, on Saturday, June 14, at the same time.

The “cocktail class” boat is based on the “Skua,” an eight foot plywood skimmer designed in 1939 by Charles MacGregor. All of the boats have been built by students that attend the Bridgeport Regional Aquaculture Science and Technology Education Center during the school year.

Aquaculture students are from Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, Milford and Trumbull, will be racing their boats.

The Restaurant at Captain’s Cove will be open for business as students race in the harbor in a series of heats to determine a winner. This event is free and open to the public.
