The Christian Heritage School girls soccer team opened Pink Week when it defeated Hamden Hall, 3-2, at Indian Ledge Park on Monday. CHS grabbed the lead early, as Ranita Muriel scored in just the fifth minute off some great buildup play and a cross from Mia Angelini. Hamden Hall equalized less than a minute later. In a physical first half that was back and forth, CHS was able to get the go ahead goal in the 20th minute when Bella Christian scored off a feed from Muriel. With the score 2-1 in the second half, the visitors began to press and to look for another tie but Ranita Muriel was able to get a counter attack goal off a feed from Bella Christian for the eventual game winner. Hamden Hall had its chances, but Soph Luft was up to the task including a brilliant diving save on an absolute rocket just inside the far post late in the game. With just under give minutes to go, Hamden Hall scored to cut the lead to 3-2 and CHS defended the rest of the way for the victory. CHS is now 10-2-1 and travels to Cheshire Academy on Wednesday for another big game.
