
Wrestling: Trumbull competes at Guilford Duals
Trumbull High defeated Guilford and Ledyard and lost to Middletown in a quad meet in Guilford.
Coach Charlie Anderson’s Eagles entered the week ranked No. 5 in the Connecticut Wrestling Online’s Top 10 poll with a 17-3 record.
Middletown at 8-2 was ranked No. 10. Ledyard was ranked 12th at 8-3 and Guilford was 22nd at 8-3.
Michael Longo went 3-0 on the day at 106 pounds. The freshman was an 11-2 decision vs Ledyard and pinned against Guilford (4:29) and Middletown.
Jack Ryan at 120 pounds, Jonathan Kosak at 126, Matt Ryan at 138 and Joe Palmieri at 195 all won three matches.
Jack Ryan pinned in 2:56 against Ledyard, in 35 seconds vs Guilford and won unopposed against Middletown.
Kosak had three falls vs Ledyard, Guilford (3:07) and Middletown (1:19).
Matt Ryan won by 1:24 fall vs Ledyard, 15-0 technical fall against Guilford and was awarded a forfeit by Middletown,
Palmieri won his matches by fall, including a 1:13 fall against Guilford.
At 113 pounds, Travis Longo won by pin against Ledyard and a 12-2 major decision vs Guilford.
David Castaldo at 132 pounds won via 1:55 fall against Ledyard.
Jason Mercado at 170 pounds won with a 1:01 pin against Guilford.
Robert DeJesus at 195 pounds pinned in 4:27 vs Guilford.
