Wolpiuk tosses no-hitter to spark sweep
Stanley Wolpiuk threw a no-hitter in a 10-0 five-inning mercy-rule win for Trumbull Post 141, and Carl Johnson followed with a complete-game 5-2 victory when coach Brett Conner’s team swept Post IV American Legion rival Norwalk at Unity Park on Wednesday.
Wolpiuk struck out seven and walked one batter.
Brandon Liscinsky had two hits, drove in a run, and scored four times for Post 141 in the opener.
Brendan Moore had two hits, a double and two RBIs and Mark Hirschbeck had a hit and an RBI.
Johnson pitched a five-hitter and struck out five. Both Norwalk runs were unearned.
Zach Sagar doubled and drove in two runs.
Simon Whiteman had three hits and Hirschbeck had two hits and scored a run.
Trumbull will host Fairfield on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. in a doubleheader at Trumbull High.
