Zack Yellen had 17 kills, 12 digs, six assists and 16 service points with eight aces to lead the Trumbull High boys volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Harding High on Monday.

Max Martel had 17 service points, including four aces, and nine digs for coach Tamara DeBerry’s Eagles. Jimmy Donahue had eight aces, three kills and two digs.

Trumbull lost to Greenwich, 3-0, on Friday.

Lucas Ferreira had six assists and four service points. Yellen had five kills, four blocks and four digs. Martel had four digs and four service points.

St. Joseph volleyball

St. Joseph defeated Kolbe Cathedral, 3-1, on Thursday.

Coach Marty Dempsey’s Cadets won the first game 25-20, and after falling in the second, took games three (25-19) and four (26-24).

Kevin Stapleton had 27 kills, Erik Lewicki 12 kills and 21 assists and Connor Gallagher 20 assists.

Trumbull boys tennis team

The Trumbull High boys tennis team defeated Norwalk High, 7-0, in its season opener on Wednesday.

Winning at singles for coach Abe Breslow’s Eagles were freshman Nick Marchenko (6-1, 6-0), sophomore Cameron Hutchins (6-1, 6-2), freshman Reece Sowka (6-2, 6-1), freshman Anush Sureshbabu (injury default) and junior Tommy Switzgable (6-1, 6-1).

Junior Jimmy Fisher and senior Mike Ciancimino won at No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-0) and junior Thaddeus Cullina and junior Nikhil Ramachandran took No. 2 doubles (6-0, 6-2).

Trumbull defeated Masuk of Monroe, 7-0, on Saturday.

Marchenko (6-0, 6-0), Hutchins (6-0, 6-0), Sowka (6-0, 6-0), Sureshbabu (6-1, 6-1) and Switzgable (6-1, 6-2) swept singles play.

Fisher and Ciancimino won at No. 1 doubles (7-5, 6-1) and Cullina and Ian Matz (6-0, 6-2) took No. 2 doubles.

St. Joseph boys tennis

St. Joseph lost to Fairfield Warde, 7-0, on Friday.

Competing in singles were Matt Burke, JP Gscwind, Parker Diamond, Trent Nayve and Mike Morin.

Leading doubles play for the Cadets were Tom Santilli and Joe Prutting, and Jack Seperak and Alex Trefz.

Trumbull girls golf

Trumbull defeated Wilton, 190-198, at the par 32 Silvermine Golf Course on Thursday.

Hailey Pekera led the Eagles by shooting a 46. She was followed by Lexi Brown and Carly Netting with matching 47s, and Emily Ruchalski with a 50.

St. Joseph girls lacrosse

Nicole Healey scored six goals and coach Bob Marino’s Cadets defeated Brien McMahon, 12-9, in Norwalk on Wednesday.

Maddie Daly scored two goals and Devan Cargnel, Katherine Adams, Mackenzie Spadinger and Lindsay Lucifora had one each.

Robyn Pelletier had two assists and Allie Lehn, Kara Della Vecchia and Healey one each.

Mikayla Konecny had 15 saves for the Cadets, who outscored the Senators 7-4 in the second half.

St. Joseph lost to Darien, 20-2, on Friday. Healey had two goals. Konecny stopped seven shots by Darien.

St. Joseph lost to Stamford High, 9-8, on Tuesday. Healey had four goals and Konecny 16 saves. Cargnel, Allie Lehn (assist), Adams (assist), Daly and Spadinger had one goal each.

Nell Condron won a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 3 singles for St. Joseph when the Cadets lost to Fairfield Warde, 6-1, on Friday.

Also competing in singles play were Samantha Rudini, Lauren Hensley and Kathryn Fitzsimmons.

Olivia Hensely and Aimee Champagne, Claire Condron and Elizabeth Banquer and Jessica Wilson and Sally McHugh player at doubles.

St. Joseph lost to Norwalk, 172-215, at the par 35 Oak Hills Golf Course on Thursday. John Docarmo shot a 48 to lead coach Tom Collins’ Cadets. Lenny Lee and Tom Flynn had matching 53s and Dean Yaworowski shot a 61.

St. Joseph girls track

St. Joseph lost to New Canaan, 83-65, on Wednesday.

The Cadets’ 4x100 relay team of Jada Harris, Lindsey Savko, Chanel Morton and Mariah Provenzano took first with a time of 52.67.

Harris was first in the 100 hurdles (16.67) and the triple jump (34-4) for coach Gary Schmedlin’s squad.

Andrea Galeano was also a double winner, taking first in the shot put (29-7.5) and the javelin (67-10).

Meg Kacenski placed first in the 300 hurdles (50.63), Provenzano won the 200 (28.26) and Andrea Spinelli the discus (69-11).
