Trumbull High's girls gymnastics team posted a score of 129.35 to defeat Joel Barlow-Redding (101.04), Weston High (57.9) and Lauralton Hall of Milford (30.85) in Fairfield on Thursday.

Brooke Foley (33.45), Mary DiMartino (33.1) and Andrea Veilleux (31.70) swept the all around.

Foley (8.65) and Haley Mocker (8.55) were first and second in the vault.

DiMartino (8.4), Foley (7.9) and Veilleux (7.6) were best on bars.

DiMartino (8.2) was second and Foley (8.1) third on balance beam.

Foley (8.8) took the floor exercise.

Boys swim

Trumbull lost a 92-76 decision to Westhill/Stamford on Wednesday.

Sam Carley took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.66 and was best in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.18.

Miles Buroker had a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.45.

Girls hockey

Kaly Gonski filled the net with four goals to lead the Trumbull/St. Joseph High team to a 5-3 victory over Daniel Hand of Madison on Monday.

Nina Danforth scored the other goal, as the locals improved to 9-6.

Kelsy Meise, Rosa Moriello and Caroline Prezioso had assists.

Kaly Gonski scored two goals and Nina Danforth tallied the other when the Trumbull/St. Joseph girls hockey team defeated Fairfield, 3-1, on Thursday.

Valerie Deeb and Nila Caballero had assists.

Trumbull boys hockey

A.J. DiMasi scored six goals and Matt Paolini made 50 saves to pace Trumbull High in its 7-4 victory over Fairfield on Wednesday.

The Eagles improved to 4-9 with the win over the Mustangs (7-5).

Nate Walker scored the other Trumbull goal and had four assists, as the Eagles broke a 1-1 tie after one period with a 4-3 edge in the second stanza.

Paolini pitched a shutout in the third, when the locals added two goals to their lead.

Alex Pierne had two assists, and Luke Bolton, Brendan McGill and Michael Antoniou one each.

Pierne scored a third-period goal, but Trumbull lost 3-1 to Wilton High on Saturday.

McGill had the assist for the Eagles (4-10).

Cam Doomany had 31 saves against the Warriors (3-13).

St. Joseph hockey

Colin Powell scored a pair of first-period goals to lead St. Joseph to a 5-2 victory over Greenwich High on Tuesday.

The Cadets are 11-4, while the Cards fell to 8-7.

Christian Keator assisted on both goals and Sean Smith on the second.

Zach Usinger made it 3-1 early in the second period off an assist from Sean Hurley.

Andrew Gore completed the scoring at 4-2 in the stanza with Ryan Corcoran and Keator earning assists.

Corcoran, from Chris Kirven, tallied in the third.

Marc Van Etten made 15 saves.

St. Joseph defeated Trinity Catholic of Stamford by a score of 8-0 on Saturday.

Van Etten stopped 12 shots by the Crusaders.

Hurley scored two goals and had an assist.

Keator and Corcoran had a goal and an assist each.

Dominic DeRosa, Smith, Usinger and Powell added goals.

Landon Gabriel, Will Gilbert, Mark Loaoue and Dan Castorena had assists.

Filippo Petrini posted a three-goal hat trick to lead St. Joseph to a 7-0 victory over Norwalk/McMahon on Wednesday.

Keator, DeRosa, Kevin Finn and Gabriel also scored goals for the Cadets.

Gilbert had three assists, and Dominic Sidorczuk, Alec Crispino, Nick DiSabella, Gabrielle and Tom Schaefer one helper each.

Christian Furce made 11 saves in net.


Trumbull High defeated Waterford and lost decisions to Xavier of Middletown, Ledyard and Southington in Middletown on Saturday.

The Eagles are 23-9 on the season.

In the 54-25 victory over Waterford, Kevin Cecio (2:20 at 132 pounds), Stephen Briganti (3:23 at 145), David Briganti (4:42 at 152) and John Miolene (26 seconds at 220)scored wins by fall.

Also winning on the mat was Jalaam Robinson by injury default at 126.

In the 45-21 loss to sixth-ranked Xavier, Cross Cannone won by 59-second fall at 113 pounds, Adam Angelucci won an 8-5 decision at 138, Brandon Fulco by 1:19 pin at 160, and Erik Mercado by 5:41 pin at 195.

Cannone (1:50 pin), Robinson (1-0 decision), Stephen Briganti (2:30 pin), David Briganti (3:15 pin), Fulco (technical fall) and Mercado (4:45 pin) posted victories in the 42-32 loss to third-ranked Ledyard (16-1).

Cannone (2:05 pin), Cecio (3:54 pin), Angelucci (technical fall), Stephen Briganti (3-1 decision), Fulco (11-2 major decision) and Miolene (1:41 pin) won on the mat in the 40-36 loss to ninth-ranked Southington (12-4).

The Trumbull High wrestling team defeated Harding of Bridgeport, 70-12, on Wednesday, as the Eagles improved to 23-6 overall and 9-2 in the FCIAC.

Cross Cannone (in 3:15 at 113 pounds), Adam Angelucci (1:48 at 138), Stephen Briganti (1:59 at 145), Brandon Fulco (2:55 at 160) and Eric Mercado (44 seconds at 195) posted pins.

Jalaam Robinson won a 13-3 major decision at 126.

Kevin Cecio (132), David Briganti (152), Tim Douthit (170), Joe Raverta (182), John Miolene (220) and Steve D’Amato (heavyweight) were awarded wins by forfeit.
