The Trumbull High and St. Joseph track teams competed at the CIAC Open championships in New Britain’s Willow Brook Park on June 6.

Trumbull’s Tyler Gleen ran a 1:53.07 to place third in the 800 meter run. A junior, Gleen shaved nearly five seconds off his seed time to qualify for the New England meet.

St. Joseph’s Jada Harris placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles and the high jump. Harris’ time of 14.89 in the 100 and her jump of 5-2 qualified her for New England’s in both events.

The Cadets’ Sophia Jagoe-Seidl was fourth in the javelin, as her throw of 119-00 qualified the junior for New England’s.

Trumbull’s Kate Romanchick placed seventh with a time of 11:10.89 in the 3200-meter run to qualify for New England’s.

Megan Switzgable took 14th in the high jump at 5-0.

The Eagles’ Jack Jones placed eighth in the long jump at 21-00.25.

Robert Allen was 14th in the discus with a throw of 131-06, nearly four feet better than seed.

Andrew Bont took 19th in the discus with a throw of 125-06.

The 4x400 relay team of Dylan McEniry, Thang Dao, Taylor Auten and Gleen placed 21st in 3:31.48.

McEniry, Auten, Charlie Taubl and Jake Cappello were 22nd in the 4x800 (8:31.05).
