Trumbull softball shuts out fifth straight foe

Ally Szabo lowered her season’s ERA to 0.89 and coach Cary Nadel’s Trumbull High softball team improved to 11-1 with a 6-0 road victory over Staples High in Westport on Monday.

It was the fifth straight shut out by Trumbull pitching, as Szabo struck out five and gave up five hits.

Harleigh Kaczegowicz had two hits and scored two runs.

Szabo had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.

Lea Thompson had two hits, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI.

Taylor Brown (double, run scored) and Emily Clark each had a hit and an RBI.
