Trumbull softball seeded seventh for FCIACs

The Trumbull High softball team defeated Fairfield Warde, 5-3, on Wednesday.

Coach Cary Nadel’s Eagles (14-5 overall, 12-5 FCIAC) are seeded seventh for the FCIAC playoffs and will visit second-seeded Darien High (17-2, 15-2 FCIAC) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at 12 p.m.

Against Warde, now 12-7 overall and 10-7 FCIAC, Trumbull broke a 3-3 tie with runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Erica Fluskey (run scored) and Jayme Thompson (RBI) had two hits each.

Harleigh Kaczegowicz (run scored) and Taylor Brown run scored, RBI) had triples, Nicole Palmer (run scored) doubled, and

Emily Clark (RBI, run scored) and Lea Thompson (RBI) had singles.

Ally Szabo struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs to get the win.
