Trumbull High’s Kevin Bruggeman has signed to play baseball at Hofstra University.

“If you’re looking for a baseball player, Kevin Bruggeman is straight out of central casting,” Trumbull High head baseball coach Phil Pacelli said. “He looks the part and he certainly plays the part as well. Kevin will be a three year starter at the most important defensive position, catcher.

“His high baseball IQ, confidence and leadership skills are most impressive. Kevin was the first player in the history of our program to be elected a team captain as a junior. He is well respected by his teachers, coaches and teammates.

“Kevin works hard at his craft. Not only is he a tremendous hitter, but his defensive skills are second to none and he is an All-State caliber catcher. He consistently makes jaw dropping throws that really help us control the running game of our opposition.

“Not only is he a great player, he is one of the nicest kids I have ever coached. I have no doubt that Kevin will have a big impact on the Hofstra baseball program, just as he has for us at Trumbull.”

Coach John Russo’s Pride finished the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association season with a 23-23 record.
