Trumbull's Cross Cannone honored by American Rivers Conference

Wartburg College senior Cross Cannone from Trumbull was named the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week, and top weekly performer for wrestling.

His accomplishments:

At the Desert Duals, No. 2 Wartburg picked up dual wins over NCAA Division II 25th-ranked Colorado Mesa 23-19 and then-No. 12 North Central 41-3.

Match 1: won by 8-2 dec vs #7 Payton Tawater (Colorado Mesa – NCAA Division II).

Match 2: won by 15-0 tech fall vs Rafael Roman (North Central College).

Cannone, who is ranked No. 1 at 157 pounds, recorded his 100th career victory.

He remains undefeated on the season (13-0) and moved his winning streak to 47, which dates back to winning NCAA championship match in 2017.

The senior now has 28 career tech fall which is tied for second with Landon Williams on Wartburg's career leader list.

This is Cannone's second career Wrestler of the Week accolade and fifth for the Knights this season.
