Trumbull pairs up thirds at Wilton Invitational

The Trumbull High girls and boys cross country teams each placed third in the Large School Division at the Allen’s Meadows course in the Wilton Invitational on Saturday.

On the girls side, Katelynn Romanchick led the way for the Eagles in the 4000 meter Varsity race taking third (15:13.40), with the top three running side by side for the first two miles and only four seconds separating the finishers.

Rounding out the top 4 for Trumbull were Margaret LoSchiavo (17th in a time of 16:37.01), Molly Malloy (24th in 16:55.15) and Jill Ryan (43rd in 17:42.79).

Alessendra Zaffina took first in the 2500-meter Freshman run in a strong time of 9:29.25.

Megan Becker was third in 9:53.51.

Charlie Taubl ran an outstanding race in the varsity 5000 meter run, finishing third overall in a time of 16:31.38.

Chris Alegi followed with an 11th place finish in 16:56.76.

Trevor Rochelle was good for 27th in 17:49.35 and Jack Stachura rounded out the top four Eagles with a time of 17:51.52.

Kyle Marin placed third and Jackson Vicente seventh in the Freshman 2500 meter race.

Trumbull finished first overall in the Large School Division Junior Varsity 5000 race with Tejas Kulkarni 18:47, Kyle Koury 18:49.10 and Dylan Koury 18:49.65 placing in the top eight.
