Trumbull Post 141 defeated Westport, 11-1 in a five-inning mercy-rule decision on Tuesday.

Matt Baccaro improved to 4-1 on the American Legion Zone IV season, as he allowed six hits and struck out four.

Trumbull is 15-6 and Westport 9-9. Trumbull will host Easton Thursday and Westport Friday at 5:30.

Stanley Wolpiuk went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs, Simon Whiteman had two hits and two RBIs, Luke Waldek two hits, and Ryan Fritz walked twice and his RBI single in the fifth ended the game.

Whiteman led off the home first with an infield hit, stole second, went to third on Tyler Graziano’s sacrifice and scored on a wild pitch.

Westport tied things in the second with an unearned run before Trumbull scored twice in the home half of the frame.

With two outs, Carl Johnson singled to center. Wolpiuk followed with a single to right and Whiteman drove in both runners with a double that one hopped the fence in the left field corner.

Fritz drew a leadoff walk in the third and went to second on Casey Mack’s single. Brendan Moore sacrificed the runners up a base for Johnson, who made it 4-1 with a sac fly. Wolpiuk singled home Mack.

In the fourth, Grazano reached on a one-out infield single and reached second on a throwing error.

Brandon Liscinsky singled him home before Waldek doubled. Liscinsky scored on a passed ball and Waldek moved to third. Fritz walked and stole second. Moore brought the score to 9-1 with a two-run single. Johnson reached on a fielder’s choice and Wolpiuk singled home Moore.

Liscinsky reached on an error to start the fifth. Waldek singled before Fritz’ base hit past first base scored Liscinsky to put Trumbull 10 runs ahead.
