Day one of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference wrestling championships is in the books and Trumbull High School has a plethora of athletes ready to shine starting Saturday morning.

In the 106-pound event, Tristan Haviland is the top seed in the weight class and has dominated the competition so far. After an opening round bye, he upended Greenwich High School's Evan Torres via pinfall at the 2:42 mark of the match. On Saturday morning, Haviland will start the day competing against No. 4 seed Jesse Walker of Ridgefield.

Taking part in the 126-pound weight class was Dante Montanaro and he also advanced to Saturday morning's FCIAC semifinal round. After starting Friday's matches with a bye, Montanaro, seeded third in 126, took care of Stamford's Dominic Leckie with a pinfall victory 4:28 into the match. Up next will a match Saturday morning against second-seeded Tim Kane of Warde.

Another top seed in the tournament for Trumbull is Cross Cannone in the 132-pound weight class. After earning a bye in the first round, Cannone easily took care of Westhill's Brandon Chejin with a pinfall 48 seconds into the match.

Up next for Cannone will be a match against No. 4 seeded Aaron Beinstein of Warde Saturday morning.

Pulling off an upset, Trumbull's Mike Greco, a sixth seed in the 145-pound weight class, advanced to Saturday's semifinal round. After beating 11th seed Sebastian Rincon of Greenwich with a pinfall 2:21 into the match, Greco finished off third-seeded Aldo Ojeda of Brien McMahon with a 9-8 decision. Saturday morning Greco will battle No. 2 seed Will Mills of Danbury in the semis.

In the 152-pound division, second-seeded Adam Angelucci is faring well for THS. After starting with a opening round bye, Angelucci earned a 7-0 decision over Danbury's Jarek Laplante to advance to Saturday's FCIAC semis. In the semis on Saturday, Angelucci will start his day when he takes on third-seeded Ethan Ross of Greenwich.

Keeping the good times rolling for Trumbull is top-seeded Stephan Briganti in the 160-pound weight class. He started his Friday with a pinfall victory over Harding's Juan Maitas 23 seconds into the match and then finished off Darien's Granit Hoti with a pinfall 41 seconds into that match.

Up next for Briganti will be a match Saturday morning against No. 4 seed Andrew Marquis.

At 170. the Eagles' Joey Ryan is another top seed. After a first round bye started his tournament, he upended Fairfield Warde's Jack Whiting with a pinfall 1:29 into the match. Up next for Ryan will be a match Saturday morning against No. 4 seeded Matt Adam of Danbury.

In the heavyweight division, Trumbull's Steve D'Amato will be wrestling Saturday in the FCIAC semis. The No. 3 seed started Friday with a bye and took care of Warde's Tyler Mazut with a 8-0 decision to advance to Saturday's semis. D'Amato will face top-seeded Stephon O'Grinc of Harding on Saturday morning.
