The Trumbull High girls cross country team placed third in Saturday’s Wilton XC Invitational, outpointing Greenwich, Danbury, Shelton and Norwalk.

Julia Provenzano placed first overall for coach Jim McCaffrey’s Eagles on the 2.5 mile course with a time of 16:20.

Kate Romanchick was good for second with a time of 16:37, Natalie Faivre placed third, Carrie Foito fourth in 17:31 and Valerie Mingrone finished fifth with a time of 18:19.

The boys team placed sixth overall, outdistancing Notre Dame-West Haven, Greenwich, Norwalk, Kennedy of Waterbury and Harding from Bridgeport.

Shane Romanchick finished first for the team on the 3.1 mile course with a time of 17:24.

Jake Cappello was second with a time of 18:00, Taylor Auten third in 18:34, Jonathan Tinker fourth in 18:21 and  Matthew Pryer was good for fifth with a time of 18 :46.
