Trumbull falls to Norwalk, play again Friday
Trumbull lost to host Norwalk 5-0 in the winner’s bracket final of the Babe Ruth 15-year-old state tournament on Wednesday.
Glenn Hellthaler had Trumbull’s only hit with one out in the second off Norwalk starter Eddie O’Hara, who pitched six innings striking out seven.
Norwalk opened the bottom of the first with two walks, before Dan Romanello homered on a 3-2 pitch to give Norwalk the only runs it would need. Norwalk added an unearned run later in the inning and one more in the sixth.
Trumbull now plays in the loser’s bracket championship on Friday at 5:30 against the winner of Waterford and Newtown.
The winner of Friday’s game will have to beat Norwalk twice on Saturday to advance to the New England Regional Tournament.
