The Trumbull High football team rallied back from a 14-13 halftime deficit to defeat Westhill of Stamford, 28-14, at McDougall Stadium on Oct. 10.

Senior tailback Adam Angelucci led the Eagles with four touchdowns on 148 yards rushing and 45 receiving.

Sophomore signal caller John McElroy completed six passes for 111 yards and a  score, while rushing for 58 yards.

Jack Kelly had a sack and interception on consecutive plays to seal the Eagles victory early in the fourth quarter. Brandon Nguyen and Lance Bragg also had interceptions.

The Trumbull defense held Westhill to just over 100 yards of offense, as Josh Exantus led the Vikings with 60 yards while quarterback Frank Marcuccio had 13 yards rushing, 12 yards passing and three interceptions.

“We played lights out defense,” Trumbull head coach Bob Maffei said. “We could not have played any better tonight defensively. Their #28 (Exantus) is a really good running back and he could really slash and we stopped him.”
