Trumbull advances to play Greenwich in semifinals

Colin Keyes hit a three-run double when the Trumbull High baseball team scored five times in the fifth inning on its way to a 6-3 victory over New Canaan in the FCIAC quarterfinals on Monday.

Coach Phil Pacelli’s fifth-seeded Eagles (15-6, 14-5 FCIAC) will play top-seeded Greenwich High (18-3) in a rematch of last season’s championship game in Wednesday 7:30 p.m. semifinal game at Harbor Yard.

Willy Velez had two hits and drove in a run.

Gerard Spiegel pitched one-run ball into the fifth, and Avery Santos came on in relief to get the save.
