The Trumbull High boys and girls cross country team raced St. Joseph, Greenwich High and host Fairfield Warde on Mustang’s 3.1-mile course on Tuesday.

The Eagles defeated the Cadets and Cardinals and lost to Warde.

Kate Romanchick fought a tough battle against Warde’s Sarah Radziewicz. The girls ran side by side  for most of the race before Radziwicz edged out Romanchick by a few seconds.

Romanchick finished second overall and first for THS with a time of 20:33. Julia Provenzano (21:12) came in third overall.

Emma Soltis was 10th, Carrie Foito 12th, Jill Ryan 16th and Erin Gillespie 20th.

The boys race had a tight front pack of six that included Trumbull’s Nick Grew, who finished second overall and first for THS with a time of 17:15. Shane Romanchick (17:31) came in fifth overall.

Joseph Vecchione was 9th, Jake Cappello 11th and Taylor Auten 13th.
