Trumbull Post 141’s baseball team improved to 7-1 on the American Legion season with a 5-3 victory over Ridgefield at Trumbull High on Thursday.

Frank Puglia had a two-run double to lead a five-run fourth inning for manager Brett Conners’ team.

Gaetano Ciambriello improved to 2-0 with five innings of work. He didn’t allow an earned run, struck out four and gave up four hits.

Brian Gibbs pitched the last two frames, striking out four, to earn the save.

Mason Siegel had a two-run single when Ridgefield scored three times in the top of the fifth.

Jonny Passman had two hits, including a double.

Justin Waldek was hit by a pitch to open the Trumbull fourth.

After Waldek stole second, Zach Sagar’s sacrifice bunt was thrown away and Waldek scored for a 1-0 lead.

Chris O’Brien was hit by a pitch and Dino DiGirolamo reached to load the bases on a misplayed bunt.

After a strikeout, Kris DiCocco drove in Sagar with a walk.

Ben McCullough also drew a bases loaded walk, plating O’Brien.

Following another strikeout, Puglia doubled home two runs with a hit up the gap.

Ridgefield answered with three in the top of the fifth.

Dan Albano walked and Michael O’Brien singled.

Ciambriello struck out the next batter, before an error on a comebacker load the bases.

Craig Burke’s comebacker scored a run on the fielder’s choice throw to first.

Siegel’s single made it 5-3.

Trumbull hosts Greenwich Saturday in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
