Trumbull High winning streak snapped at five
The Trumbull High baseball team saw its five-game-winning streak snapped when Brien McMahon posted a 3-2 victory over coach Phil Pacelli’s Eagles in Norwalk on Friday.
Ryan Bayuk struck out 11 batters and pitched into the sixth inning.
McMahon (6-6, 4-6 FCIAC) scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Matt DeReinzo had a two-run double to give Trumbull a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning before McMahon tied things in the fifth.
James DeNomme and DeReinzo had two hits each.
Trumbull (7-3 overall and 6-2 FCIAC) defeated Harding of Bridgeport 17-0 on April 17.
DeReinzo hit a grand-slam home run and had three hits and five RBIs.
Liam Moore and Jeff Sam had two hits and plated two runs each.
Evan Nair pitched into the fifth to get the win before Bryan Flewelling and Billy Sickle finished up the shutout with Zach Sagar doing the catching.
DeNomme knocked in the winning run in the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless home half to get the same when Trumbull defeated Westhill High, 4-2, in Stamford on April 15.
Brandon Liscinsky had two hits and scored two runs.
Willy Velez had two hits and Colin Keyes pitched six innings to improve to 2-0. DeNomme had two hits and three RBIs and Casey Mack had a two-run single when Trumbull defeated Darien High 5-1 on April 15.
Bayuk pitched into the sixth inning and combined with Avery Santos on a six-hitter.
