On Friday May 1 Newtown High School hosted the Yellow Jacket Midnight Meet.
Race director John Faistch invited high school track teams to compete in a 5K, a 4x100 relay, 110/100 meter hurdles, shot put, discus, pole vault and high jump events.
The meet brings together schools throughout the state, including Trumbull High, Mercy of Middletown, Immaculate from Danbury, Rockville, Avon, Newtown, Brien McMahon of Norwalk,, Danbury and East Haven.
Shane Romanchick, Mitch Vecchione and Kate Romanchick represented THS in the 5000 meter run.
Shane Romanchick finished with a time of 16:38 to place 23rd out of 150 competitors.
Vecchione completed the run in 16:58 to take 32nd place.
Kate Romanchick had a strong performance finishing the 5K with a personal best time of 19:12, good for 10th place out of 50 in the girls competition.
