The Trumbull Post 141 American Legion baseball team scored three runs in the sixth inning to rally back and defeat Norwalk, 6-3, on Saturday, June 14.

Simon Whiteman led off the sixth and reached on an infield error. He stole second and scored on Mark Hirschbeck’s RBI double to make it 3-2.

Luke Waldek got more than a sacrifice on his bunt and reached safely to put two runners aboard for Mat DeRienzo, who doubled home Hirschbeck to tie the game.

Matt Fasoli’s sacrifice fly scored Waldek, and with two out Stanley Wolpiuk doubled home DeRienzo.

Carl Johnson cames on in relief in the top of the seventh to earn the save.

Nikko Arganese went six innings, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out 10 batters.

Trumbull took a 1-0 lead in the second after Fasoli hit a one-out single. Wolpiuk’s double brought him home.

Norwalk scored three runs in the fifth before Arganese got out of trouble with a strikeout.

Trumbull (2-0) will visit Norwalk (2-1) at City Hall Annex at 11 a.m. on Sunday for a doubleheader.
