Sophomore Taylor Brown threw a complete-game one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and two walks to lead the Trumbull High School softball team to a 5-0 victory over Brien McMahon of Norwalk Monday afternoon at the THS field.

Brown, Trumbull’s usual starting shortstop who was called into action due to injuries to the pitching staff, also added a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Sophomore Lea Thompson gave Trumbull a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a solo home run over the fence in left field.

The Eagles added two runs in the fifth on an RBI-double by Thompson (2-for-4) and consecutive singles by Emily Clark (3-for-4), Delilha Destefano (2-for-4) and Nicole Palmer.

Claire DeLuca led off the sixth with a double and Brown and Clark followed with RBI-doubles.

Trumbull improved to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the FCIAC. McMahon dropped to 3-7 overall and 1-7 in the FCIAC.
